The Names of God by Various Teachers

    • Sundays, 6pm; starts September 13
    • Books $25; E204
    • Led by Michelle Robertson

From the opening chapters of Genesis through the final verses of Revelation, God is known by many names—names that reveal who He is, what He does, and how He relates to His children. He is El-Roi, “the God who sees me.” He is Jesus, “the Lord is salvation.” He is the Spirit, your Comforter and Counselor. And you? You have a name, too. You are His beloved child, a Christian, one who bears His name.

In this 8-session Bible study for women, teachers Kristi McLelland, Caroline Saunders, Blair Linne, Jennifer Rothschild, Kelly Minter, and Elizabeth Woodson will walk you through the pages of Scripture. Together, you’ll examine names for the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and you’ll discover the impact each of God’s names has on your relationship with Him. Each name you encounter will inspire you to worship God for who He is and challenge you to consider how your life can be transformed in light of His character.

God of Deliverance by Jen Wilkin

    Tuesdays Chat n Chew 12pm-1pm • starts September 1
    Book $20; M131/132
    Led by Caren Cummings

“Blessed be the Lord, who has delivered you.” —Exodus 18:10

With that introduction, we enter into the story of the Hebrew people in the book of Exodus. No longer under the protection of their forefather Joseph, the children of Israel became slaves to the Egyptians. But God was raising up a deliverer in Moses, to lead His people from bondage to freedom so they could worship Him. The exodus of the Israelites shapes our understanding of the whole Bible, its themes reverberating all the way to Revelation. Exodus is the birth narrative of a nation unmistakably guided by the Great Deliverer. In this 10-session verse-by-verse study of Exodus 1–18, Jen Wilkin shows us that Israel’s story is our story: the same God who delivered Israel also delivers all those He loves from slavery to sin and from service to the pharaohs of this world. He lifts our eyes to the promised land He has prepared where we dwell with I AM and worship Him as the one true God.

When You Pray: A Study of Six Prayers in the Bible by Various Teachers

    • Wednesdays 10am-12pm • August 26-October 7
    • Books $20; E213
    • Led by Dee Yarbrough & Kathy Parker

Do you have trouble thinking of words to say to God when you pray? Are you afraid some emotions are too intense to express to God? Do you reach the end of a day only to realize you haven’t prayed at all? You’re not alone. Prayer is the way we relate to God, but sometimes it’s a struggle. Throughout God’s Word, we encounter many voices who teach us how to pray. In this 7-session study, join with six beloved Bible teachers who will help you study prayers in the Bible that can inspire your own. You’ll learn that God welcomes your praise and lament, your thanksgiving and intercession. You’ll see examples of how to pray when you’re alone and when you’re gathered with others. Above all, you’ll notice there’s no one right way to pray. As you draw near to God through prayer, you’ll find your faith strengthened and your heart united to Christ.

Friends and Sisters by Lifeway Women

    • Wednesdays 10am-12pm • October 14-November 18
    • Books $14; E213
    • Led by Dee Yarbrough & Kathy Parker

God designed us for relationship. The Bible describes the people of God as a family, and Jesus often spoke of His followers as sisters and brothers. In Christ, you are part of a sisterhood that is bound together by faith, love, and a shared purpose. But what does it look like to be sisters in Christ in the midst of a loneliness epidemic, when genuine friendship is harder and harder to find? In this 5-week Bible study for women, we’ll reflect on how to cultivate deep, Christ-centered relationships and strengthen our bond as friends and sisters. Through biblical examples and practical application, we’ll explore what the Bible teaches us about loving, caring for, honoring, supporting, and investing in one another for the long haul. And we’ll consider what it looks like to seek out and cultivate friendships in the church, the place where we find true belonging. Whether you’re new to your relationship with Jesus or have walked with Him for years, this study will remind you that you have a place in God’s family and will inspire you to become a better friend and sister.

    • Led by Dee Yarbrough & Kathy Parker

Joy to the world, the Lord is come. The opening line of this classic Christmas carol captures the delight and awe that surrounded Jesus’s birth. But how often does the Christmas season feel stressful rather than joyful? Why do we trade “all is calm” for all is chaos? In this 4-session Bible study, you’ll spend the weeks of Advent learning to celebrate the good news of great joy found in the Christmas story. Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth to save us from our sins and sorrow and to make right our relationship with God. And He will return to finish setting everything right. With daily personal study, suggestions for family devotions, and engaging activities to transform your study experience, this beautiful resource will help you delight in Jesus’s birth and joyfully anticipate His return this Christmas season and all year long.

The Marvel and Miracle of Advent – Christine Caine & Lisa Harper

    • Wednesdays 6pm-7:30pm • October 28-November 18
    • Books $13; M131/132
    • Led by Angela Howerton

God meets us in the most profound and personal way. This miracle of God-with-us is the message of Christmas. Remember when your eyes used to well up with tears whenever you sang, Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn king that first Sunday after Thanksgiving? What happened to the starry eyes we used to have only for Jesus? Join Lisa Harper and Christine Caine in this four-week Bible study and marvel together at the truth: the supernatural scaffolding of our belief system isn’t a human construct but is instead a divine love story wherein the King of all kings willingly sets aside His scepter in Glory, takes on our like form, and condescends to be born in a trough in order to capture our distracted human hearts. This is a wake-up call to wonder and to a fresh experience of the gospel and the miracle of Immanuel-God with us.
