Sunday School

From Genesis to Revelation, we will explore who God is and what He has done. These classes are designed to create a transformative, age-appropriate encounter with God’s word for our kids. The truth and grace of Jesus Christ is brought to life each week through interactive storytelling, videos, music, activities, group discussion, and more.

Awana
5:45pm | Sundays | ages 3*-Grade 5
Awana is a fun-filled, Bible-based discipleship program for kids ages 3-5th grade. Through small group, relationship-based ministry, our kids learn scripture and spiritual truths that encourage them to know and love Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Families are an integral part of discipleship, and Awana is built on a partnership between the church and the home. In addition to the discipleship taking place at Awana on Sunday evenings, children will use their Awana handbooks to read and apply scripture at home throughout the week. Children must be potty-trained to attend Awana.
- *Age as of 9/30/25. Children must be potty trained to participate in evening programming.

KidJAM (Current 1st-5th Grade; August-May)
The mission of KidJAM is to assist children in discovering & cultivating their God-given gifts through the arts by incorporating music, drama, art, & creative expression as an act of worship. We equip them to serve the Lord through these artistic expressions with confidence & a heart of praise.

Session 1: August 20-December 17
Session 2: January 7-May 27Performing Arts Track: This is a production-based group for kids who want to participate in on-stage worship arts experiences. Kids will present 2 musical productions during the year, one in the winter and one in the spring. Kids in this track will also sing during worship at various times throughout the year. In addition to singing in the choir, kids will have the opportunity to participate in other arts modalities (drama, dance, drumming, bells, puppets, sign language). Kids must commit to attending at least 75% of Wednesday night rehearsals in addition to 2-3 rehearsals outside of Wednesday night during each session.
Art & Missions Track: This is an activity-based group for kids who enjoy art, have a passion for mission, prefer to not be on stage, or cannot attend Wednesday night programming on a regular basis. Kids will complete art and missions projects in coordination with the performing arts presentations. Kids in this track will not appear on stage for the presentations nor sing during worship services.

Special Needs Ministry
Special Needs Ministry is important to us here at Mount Vernon because people with special needs are important to Jesus.
Mount Vernon Special Needs Ministry to provide support & accommodations so that all children and students can hear, understand, and respond to the Gospel. The ministry provides relationship based discipleship & support in order for the Gospel to be accessible to every child and student who walks through our doors.
Parent & Child Dedication
The opportunity to present your child for dedication to Christ and the church. During either our 9 am or 10:30 am worship services, Parent-Child Dedication is a beautiful act of giving back to God what He has graciously given you. It’s an act of worship, thanksgiving, and commitment, where parents publicly dedicate their children to the Lord and commit to raising them in a godly home.
