What does Christmas mean to you and your family? Time together, fun and tradition? Generosity, kindness and cheer? These are good things, but Christmas is about so much more. This Christmas season, lead your family to focus on the best of Christmas- Jesus Christ.
Christmas is ultimately and simply a day to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who humbled Himself to be born as a baby in a manger so that He would one day die to rescue the whole world from sin. Christmas is a time to reflect on the hope, peace, joy and love that we have because of Jesus.
Each Sunday beginning December 1, our Worship Service will include an Advent scripture reading and candle lighting. This devotional is designed to reinforce the scripture read and the theme represented through each candle more thoroughly at home. Each week you will have an opportunity to “read, ask, pray, sing & do” as your family prioritizes worshipping Jesus Christ this Christmas.
Mount Vernon Kids Ministry is called to serve God as we:
T- Teach kids to know and love God.
R– Reach out to share God’s love.
E– Equip families to disciple their kid(s).
E– Encourage kids in a life of prayer, worship, and fellowship.
From Genesis to Revelation, we will explore who God is and what He has done. These classes are designed to create a transformative, age-appropriate encounter with God’s word for our kids. The truth and grace of Jesus Christ is brought to life each week through interactive storytelling, videos, music, activities, group discussion, and more.

Awana is a fun-filled, Bible-based discipleship program for kids ages 3-5th grade. Through small group, relationship-based ministry, our kids learn scripture and spiritual truths that encourage them to know and love Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Families are an integral part of discipleship, and Awana is built on a partnership between the church and the home. In addition to the discipleship taking place at Awana on Sunday evenings, children will use their Awana handbooks to read and apply scripture at home throughout the week. Children must be potty-trained to attend Awana.
NOTE: As of July 31, registration for children receiving GROW Special Needs 1:1 support is now full. Interested families will need to contact Ashley Jones (ajones@mountvernon.church) to join a waitlist for Awana registration with GROW support.
